Emiel Por is a PhD candidate supervised by Matthew Kenworthy. His main research topics are Phase Sorting Interferometry (PSI) and coronagraph design.

PSI uses the interference between quasi-static speckles and residual adaptive optics speckles to estimate and correct non-common-path aberrations. This method is currently under development for ERIS@VLT and METIS@ELT. For coronagraph design, Emiel develops methods for optimizing the apodizing phase plate (APP) coronagraph, the single-mode complex amplitude refinement (SCAR) coronagraph, and more.

Emiel is also interested in software development, optics and photonics, and exoplanet atmospheres.
